Tony Withington, ATU 1575
​
Tony has been a member of the Council since 1977 representing Amalgamated Transit Local 1575. In that time, he served on the Executive Board and as the Vice President. He became a Bus Driver in 1974 for the Golden Gate Bridge and Transportation District. In the time as a driver, he was active in Local 1575 and served on the Executive Board, Vice President and then as President of Local 1575 for 21 years. He then became an International Representative for the Amalgamated Transit Union before his retirement.

Mary Sandberg, SEIU 1021

Mary serves as the Vice-President of Local SEIU1021 for the North Coast Region, representing nearly 6000 public, education and non-profit workers. The North Coast region encompasses Marin County to Del Norte County, and represents a wide range of diverse, geographic, social and economic issues faced by workers and their families. Prior to her election to Vice-President in 2019, Mary served as the Sonoma County Area Representative to the SEIU1021 Executive Board for 3 years. She has been a union member for 12 years at the Santa Rosa Junior College Chapter of SEIU, where she served as negotiator, steward and other leadership roles.

Mike has a long history as a Labor leader serving in many roles. He is currently the President of the Teamsters 665 serving Sonoma, Lake, Marin, and Mendocino Counties.

Tom Woods, Teamsters 665

Tom Woods is a Business agent for Teamsters Local 665 and represents workers in Construction, Transportation and Package Delivery from Fort Bragg to San Francisco. Also the Labor Co Chair of North Bay Jobs With Justice, Tom Woods is actively involved in organizing and workers rights issues and believes that active solidarity between unions is the most effective tool for building worker power in the North Bay.

Jack Buckhorn

Jack Buckhorn has decades of experience in the Labor Movement coming up through the ranks of IBEW Local 551. From 1989 to 1998, Buckhorn served as Training Director for the Redwood Empire Joint Apprenticeship and Training Committee. He is also the past President of the California State Association of Electrical Workers and has received appointments to the California Apprenticeship Council, the Mendocino and Marin Counties Workforce Development Boards and the California Health Facilities Financing Authority. He served as IBEW Business Agent, Secretary-Treasurer of the Sonoma, Mendocino and Lake Counties Building and Construction Trades Council, President of the Marin County Building and Construction Trades Council, Executive Board President of the NBLC, prior to becoming its Executive Director.

Maddy Hirshfield

Maddy Hirshfield has been involved in politics and government in the North Bay for decades. She served as a delegate to the Sonoma County Democratic Party from 1992 to 2002, serving as Chair from 1996 to 2002. She was also a delegate on the California State Democratic Party during this time. Hirshfield worked for the state Legislature serving two California State Assemblymembers between 2002 and 2014. Hirshfield has also been a successful political manager and consultant representing dozens of local and state candidates and ballot measures.

Iliana Madrigal-Hooper

Iliana Madrigal-Hooper has worked as a bilingual intake patient advocate, district scheduler/office manager for Congressman Jared Huffman, program manager for a family resource center, Covid Command Center Media Team in the City and County of San Francisco, and non-profit communications director. Iliana is devoted to advocating for language, social, and environmental justice for communities of color. As a former ESL student, Iliana understands how vital it is to have access to information in a person’s native language. She holds a Master’s Degree in Urban & Public Affairs, a B.A. in International Relations as well as an Associate’s Degree in Political Science.
