We Stand with Survivors & UFW

AFL-CIO

Mar 18, 2026

Sisters & Brothers,

By now you've heard the heartbreaking news and the statement made by Dolores Huerta.

My heart breaks with this news as I'm sure all of yours does as well. To get this information about a long time icon of the movement for so many years is beyond devastating. And it's news we all must face. We can't look away as tempting as that might be.

We must remember, no one person is bigger than the movement. When that happens, we all lose perspective.

Reading Dolores Huerta's words is crushing. But face it we must. Let's move forward with our eyes and hearts open to whatever is out there. It's not always easy to see, but it's so important, now more than ever. We need to be aware of who may need help, help them - when we can - and move on as an even stronger MOVEMENT FOR GOOD.

The AFL-CIO has come out with an official statement and I leave that here for you now.

We'll get through this like we do everything else. Stand together and take care of each other. Cause that's how we do it.

Si Se Puede my sisters and brothers!!!
