On August 12th at 9 AM, outside the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors building at 575 Administration Drive in Santa Rosa, dozens of religious leaders, people of faith, migrant rights advocates, and allies will share in a ritual honoring those who have been on hunger strike for the past week. The goal of the strike is to move the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors to pass the Sanctuary Ordinance and to end the Sheriff’s collaboration with Immigration Customs Enforcement. SEIU and the North Bay Labor Council have endorsed these requests, and people from across the county have communicated their support for this ordinance to the Board of Supervisors.
